De La Soul, a key soundtrack to skaters in the heyday of 90’s skateboarding, inspired some of the greatest Nike Dunk SB designs to date. Our product imagery for the 10th Anniversary reissue of the De La Soul Nike Dunk was inspired by a mashup of the industrial grit of skateboarding and the colorful pop art graphics from De La Soul’s debut album 3 Feet High and Rising.
“I was and still am a fan of De La Soul. They were a huge influence on me from the late ‘80s through the early ‘90s. They were dominant figures in hip-hop. Their album art was awesome. It’s something that gets you hyped to skate. Hearing good music gets you into a flow.” – Eric Koston, Nike SB Pro
